Insurance sales are one of the most stressful jobs on the market today, with rapidly changing technology and growing competition along with frequent rejection and difficult clients. Add to that the pressure to meet certain quotas and update your records, and it’s easy to see why this job isn’t for everybody. Luckily, most agents come into the job with a thick skin, and can focus on long term goals to carry them through the tough times. However, if you’re feeling like you need a little extra motivation to tackle your days, here are a few quick tips to help you recharge and re-center.
Find your morning motivation: Try going to bed earlier and waking up earlier to give yourself extra time in the mornings to eat a healthy, well-balanced breakfast and plan out the tasks ahead of you each day. By entering into your days slowly you are less likely to feel overwhelmed by all the work ahead of you, and you will be more ready to sit down and get started as soon as you arrive at the office. In addition, by making sure that you focus on your sleep schedule and maximize your rest you will be more focused and ready to handle any new challenges that may come your way as the day progresses.
Stick to your schedule: Another great way to stay on track is by having a clear daily schedule set out so that you know the game plan before you even start. By knowing what to expect out of your daily work load, and what you have to accomplish in order to reach your goals you will be able to give them your undivided attention instead of alternating between two or three conflicting priorities. Also, by having a clear start and end to your daily tasks you will sometimes find yourself able to work through them at a faster pace, freeing up your afternoons for leisure activities or an early evening at home as a reward.
Be the early bird: Make a point to come into the office at least 15 minutes early each morning in order to get yourself settled and focused on the day ahead. Though it may seem like a small amount of time, it can make a big difference in your mental preparation and what mood you will take with you into your work day. Have a clean workspace and review where your materials are, ensure everything you will need is well stocked and on hand, review the work you have done over the past few days and what you will need to follow up on, and finally pour yourself a coffee and sit down alone for a minute or two to mentally rehearse how you would like your day to progress.
